Ukraine closes borders for foreign citizens

Within 48 hours, Ukraine will close the borders for foreigners for two weeks to stem the spread of the coronavirus. This was announced by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov at a briefing.

"All Ukrainian citizens who are currently abroad will be able to return to the country. But (the returning people - ed.) from the countries where the coronavirus is raging today will undergo certain observation procedures," the NSDC secretary stressed.

At the same time, Ukrainian citizens are advised to refrain from travelling abroad, if possible. He specified that foreigners who work as diplomats will be able to get into the territory of Ukraine.

"We will decide on our next steps at the NSDC meeting in two weeks, depending on how the situation unfolds," Danilov added.
